The media, as we all know it has grown through the course of history. The growth has always pointed towards a common mode of operation; Decentralization.
Application of Decentralize Media
For example, the different post offices scattered all around town which are used to send information and messages to loved ones were more common about a century ago. Then there came radio technology with the help of the resistors and transistors. These removed the number of people that were bound to function and the amount of stress to get the information across.
Imagine the amount of manpower and time saved by simply picking up your phone and dialing up the person you want to call, Amazing right?
But this was made possible by decentralization. This also revolutionized the way information was passed on airways. From transistor radios to supervised traditional media and now, everybody can have access to news as soon as it breaks via the social media channels available.
Social media channels like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram gave people the medium to directly share news and information as the news broke.
Other Noticeable Advantages of Decentralize Media
1. Removal of a strict biased editorial: no matter how the news is painted, the information in the majority, is usually one-sided from the centralized media. A decentralized media allows the raw news to be published in that instant.
2. Freedom of speech: the decentralization also gives everybody the freedom to express themselves in whichever way and be heard from independent and impartial bodies.
Basically, the media has always been heading down this path of decentralization. It is a bound occurrence that’s bound to happen. I am very sure you really don’t wait around to catch the news on television when you can get it on the go on social media and the internet.
The early adaptation of the decentralization for the traditional media outlet is paramount if they are to avoid being obsolete in the periods to come.
